Buffalo Public Schools & Community Partners

As the lead-producer in the Media Communications Department (Career & Technical Education Program, 9-12) for Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts - I have produced hundreds of videos for the school’s internal & external audiences: multi-cam live performances, events, filmed/edited commencement ceremonies for public broadcast (2020-2021), and hundreds more.

This piece won “Outstanding Editing” & “Viewers’ Choice Award” in the What's So Cool About Manufacturing video competition (2019-2020), produced by the students at Buffalo Academy for Visual & Performing Arts under the direction of MaryBeth Murray, and Dave Riffel.

The Northland Workforce Training Center's What's So Cool About Manufacturing Video Contest is a program designed by employers and educators to help improve the image of manufacturing as a career choice with the objective of recruiting more young people to vocational and technical schools that feed talent to the manufacturing industry.

Teams of middle school students, led by teacher-coaches, are provided with video equipment and instructional materials and matched with local manufacturers. Each team has four months to create a short video profile of partner companies, and the career opportunities they offer to answer the question, "What's so cool about manufacturing?" The entries are judged by an expert panel and public vote—hosted on the Northland website. Winners are recognized at an awards ceremony by industry and education leaders, dignitaries, and elected officials.

The 9th Annual BAND Against Bullying Virtual 2021 Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts Middle School performance! “BAND Against Bullying” is a premiere inter-school music and arts performance related to the theme of “dignity.”

Students from five local high schools present themed performances to raise community awareness of bullying-related issues and to raise support of anti-bullying education efforts. Bullying and harassment occur frequently among youth.

One out of three students are involved as perpetrator, target or both. Bullying and harassment are related to social, emotional, behavioral and academic problems, and can impact all involved, according to the events’ organizers.
