Tuning an stringed instrument (like a guitar) is literally the act of finding the perfect equilibrium of tension to produce the “perfect” pitch.
Without precise tension, there is no such thing as a tuned guitar string!
But, sometimes, you just need to change the tuning.
This song is dedicated to my wife, Danusia (some have called “Dee”), written in an alternative tuning, when played “open” (without pressing fingers down on any frets of the guitar) resounds a “D-Major” chord, also known as “open D tuning”:
